The 8500 1.6 is indeed quite rare, and would be a nice 10-11 reel if you found one. Weight-wise, I’ll bet a 8500 1.6 weighs as much (or more?) than an 8550.

Compressor oil is solvent free and is what Jack Charlton recommended for the spindle and spool (but obviously in more sparing amounts).
